PFGC coming up on 50-year celebration

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The organization that has had a hand in your forage program for the past 50 years -- even though you may not even have known it -- is planning a golden anniversary celebration. And you’re invited to participate.
The Pennsylvania Forage and Grassland Council (PFGC) has been at the forefront of developing improved forage and pasture programs for a full half century, with dairy farmers as the most prominent benefactors.
PFGC’s 50th anniversary is themed "50 years of Forage Achievements" and takes place at a one day conference to be held on November 23rd at the Shady Maple Banquet and Conference Center located in East Earl, Pa., three miles east of New Holland, in the heart of Pennsylvania's Amish Country.
The agenda for the conference includes a group of outstanding speakers covering a wide range of topics dealing with growing and utilizing forages profitably. The conference will also include a special Shady Maple luncheon and PFGC awards program. The keynote speaker for the event is Steve Larson, editor of Hoard's Dairyman magazine.
The Pennsylvania Forage and Grassland Council, founded in 1960, was the first state grassland council formed in the U.S., and the first to affiliate with the American Forage and Grassland Council (AFGC). PFGC’s motto is: "Farmers, industry and educators working together for better forage programs."
Details on the program, registration information, transportation, lodging, etc., will be published later. Meanwhile, please mark the date on your calendar now!
Monetary contributions for the celebration are invited and should be sent to Dr. John Baylor, (checks made out to PFGC). John’s address is 298 McCormick Ave., State College, PA 16801. Phone/Fax 814-237-4097.
Event sponsorships for meals are still available. Among the early major contributors ($1000) to the golden anniversary celebration is Alltech, the global animal nutrition company headquartered in Lexington, Ky.
