PENNSYLVANIA DAIRY SUMMIT
Donations requested for Summit’s silent auction, Feb. 6

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Donations of dairy collectibles, gifts and other items are requested for a silent auction to held on Wednesday evening, Feb. 6, at the Pennsylvania Dairy Summit at the Lancaster Host Resort in Lancaster, Pa. The silent auction will open at 5:30 p.m., at the start of the evening reception. Items will be awarded to winning bidders during the evening program.

“Contributions to the silent auction will go directly to support the scholarship fund within the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania,” said Emily Yeiser, dairy initiatives manager with the Center for Dairy Excellence. “Our goal is to raise enough money to support at least five $1000 scholarships in 2013.”

The silent auction will be part of a motivational evening program featuring Rocky Bleier, former Pittsburgh Steeler running back and a Vietnam veteran. His life story, a gripping tale of courage on both the football field and the battlefield, has held audiences in rapt attention for years. Yet, the motivational message behind it, detailing how ordinary people can become extraordinary achievers, defines success in the new American century.

The Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania was established in 2010 as a charitable 501(c)(3) organization to support educational initiatives that grow and sustain the Pennsylvania dairy industry. The Center Foundation provides the opportunity for individuals and organizations to make tax-deductible contributions to support educational initiatives within Pennsylvania’s dairy industry.

The Center Foundation was created to allow individuals and corporations to make a lasting impact on the future of Pennsylvania’s dairy industry and its individual dairy farm families. Priorities for the Center Foundation include youth development, continuing education, consumer outreach and market development.

Registration for the 2-day Pennsylvania Dairy Summit is now open. The cost to register for the full program is $225 per person, discounted to $125 for dairy producers, managers and employees. The cost to attend the one-day “Core Dairy Track,” which includes the opportunity to attend the evening program, is $150 per person, discounted to $75 for dairy producers. Group discounts are also available.

Contribution forms, along with informational brochures about the center foundation, will be available at the Center for Dairy Excellence booth at the Pennsylvania Dairy Summit. Those who would like to contribute items to the silent auction can do so by contacting Yeiser at 717-346-0849 or eyeiser@centerfordairyexcellence.org.
