N.Y. Guernsey breeders slate meeting and sale

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- New York State Guernsey Breeders will be gathering here at the Hilton Garden Inn on April 6 for their annual meeting. Please contact Sharon Littlefield for information or reservations: 315-788-1531.

Members wishing to apply for either lifetime production awards, junior production awards or the dam/daughter improvement contest will find the applications at www.nyguernsey.com

Less than a week after the April 6 meeting, 15 Guernsey calves and heifers will be offered at the Carousel Colored Breed Sale. That date is Friday April 1; the time is 6 p.m. and the place is the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

Consignors include Cargile Farm, Coon Bros, Craigmoor, Johnsons, Piskorowski, Ripley Farm and Toolite. Animals will be selling from some of the most sought after cow families in the breed including Chupps Farm Mentor Mary, Flambeau Manor HS Lark, Sunrise Luxury Tami and Lang Haven Aaron Treasure.

Catalogs may be requested from Wayne Foote, 518-744-7943. During the sale there will also be a “silent auction” with the opportunity to bid on Guernsey semen. This is a fundraiser that benefits the N.Y. Guernsey Scholarship Calf Program.

The Carousel’s Spring Guernsey Show takes place Saturday, April 13, beginning at 1 p.m. Adam Liddle will be the official. Entry information may be found at www.nyholsteins.com. Click on Carousel. Dick Whalen is the show chairperson.

New York Guernsey Breeders is a vibrant, active organization. This year’s membership applications are due May 1.
