Berks County Holstein Club tour going to Maryland

READING, Pa. -- There are still some seats available for the Berks County Holstein Club bus trip to Maryland on Saturday, March 23. The tour will depart promptly at 7:45 am from the Berks County Ag Center.

The first stop will be at My Lady’s Manor Farm near Monkton. Owned my Rob and Sam Smith, the farm is home to MS Durchan Lady Allana EX-95, and the cow family that produced the popular high genomic sire Ladys-Manor PL Shamrock.

The second stop will be Windsor-Manor Farm near New Windsor, owned by Jason and Donna Myers. The farm is known worldwide for their “Zip” cow family that has produced many high indexing cows and the “Ruby” family that has produced numerous All-American Red & White show winners.

The third stop will be at Coldsprings Farm, owned by the Hoff Family. They have sold bulls to A.I. and have developed numerous show-winning cows. They have completed building some new facilities and have renovated old facilities.

The last farm on the tour is Savage-Leigh Holsteins near Union Bridge which is owned by Chip and Isha Savage. The farm is home to the Savage-Leigh Licorice family, which has produced numerous All-American winners. A star attraction here is Savage-Leigh Leona (EX-95) who is coming off a very successful show season in 2012, having won first place in the 125,000-pounds class and being named grand champion at the Eastern Fall National and winning second in the 125,000-pounds class at the World Dairy Expo.

The tour will conclude with dinner at the Mountain Gate Restaurant.

The cost of the tour is $40 per person, which includes the evening meal. Please bring a bag lunch to eat on the bus between stops. The tour is first come, first serve and payment is due when reservations are made. To make reservations call Tom Rentschler at 484-955-2243.
