Creedin Cornman of Justa-Beauty Holstein fame, Carlisle, gives a high thumbs up after tasting the special ice cream flavor that was developed at Way-Har Farms in Berks County exclusively for the 100th anniversary celebration of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association. Lolly Lesher is pouring the mix into a freezer as interested bystanders look on. You’ll have a chance to taste the ice cream yourself at the celebration to be held November 8-10 in State College.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Holstein Association is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding this year. A weekend celebration will be held November 8-10 at the Penn Stater Conference Center in State College. All past and present members and friends of the Association are invited and welcomed to join in the celebration.

The weekend celebration will kick-off with what is being called the "Amazing Holstein Grazing". The Friday, November 8, evening will begin with a buffet dinner and a great opportunity to catch up with friends, past and present in the Holstein fraternity. Dessert at the buffet dinner will include a special ice cream developed specifically for the Pennsylvania Holstein 100th Anniversary. The opportunity to enjoy this ice cream will be on at the 100th Anniversary Amazing Grazing dinner.

The unveiling the Famous Cows of Pennsylvania painting titled "Peaceful Pastures of Pennsylvania" by artist Debbie Cornman will be a highlight of the evening program. The painting features the seven famous cows of Pennsylvania as selected by the membership of the Association. They are: Burket-Falls Elevation Sophia, Northcroft Ella Elevation, Penn-Gate Skychief Finesse, Plushanski Chief Faith, Tri-Day Ashlyn-ET, Windy-Knoll-View Promis-ET and Windy-Knoll-View Ultimate Pala. The original painting will be sold at the Saturday evening banquet; prints and note cards of the painting will be available for purchase at the weekend celebration or from the Association after November 10th.

The 100th Anniversary quilt by Mary Jane Stoltzfus and Reba Yoder will be unveiled and on display. This hand-sewn queen-size quilt features Holstein cows, barns and the changing of the seasons. The quilt will also be auctioned off at the banquet on Saturday night November 9th.

The hard cover coffee table history book, “Cows, Farms & Families – 100 Years of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association” will also be available for purchase at the November celebration weekend. Authors and editors of the book, Alan and Sally Bair will be available on Friday evening to sign copies of the publication.

Room reservations can be made by contacting the Penn Stater Conference Center at 814-863-5000 by October 9th. Ticket order forms are available by contacting the Pennsylvania Holstein Association at 814-234-0364 or through their website www.paholsteins.com
