Ohio Spring Dairy Expo entries due March 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio will host the annual Spring Dairy Expo here on March 27-29 at the Ohio Expo Center. The event offers activities for every dairy enthusiast, including junior competitions, seven breed shows and four breed sales.

Justin Burdette of Mercersburg, Pa., will judge the Ayrshire, Holstein and Red & White shows. Kevin Lutz of Lincolnton, N.C. will sort the Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Jersey and Milking Shorthorn classes. An entry form is available online, and must be postmarked by March 1. The entry fee is $20 per animal.

There are also four breed sales set for the Expo: the Midwest Revue Brown Swiss Sale; the Buckeye Dairy Club Ayrshire, Guernsey and Milking Shorthorn Sale; the Buckeye Classic Spring Jersey Sale featuring the best of Goff Dairy; and the Best of Triple-T and Heath Sale, an event debuting this year.

For youth participants, there will once again be an All-Breed Youth Showmanship Contest. The 4-H and FFA judging contest, an annual highlight featuring more than 400 participants from across Ohio and neighboring states, will also return.

In addition to annual events, this year’s edition also boasts the Holstein USA Judging Conference, a national conference set to bring in dairy cattle judges from around the country.
