Pennsylvania Guernsey events slated for April 25-26

BEDFORD, Pa. -- The 83rd annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders’ Association (PGBA) will be held here April 25-26 at the Quality Inn.

The detailed schedule of events follows:
• Friday, April 25th
12:30 p.m. -- Registration begins
1 p.m. -- Youth pizza party (free for Junior PGBA members)
1:30 p.m. -- Junior meeting and elections
2 p.m. -- 83rd annual PGBA meeting
2 p.m. -- Public Speaking, Interviews & Display Contests
3 p.m. -- Quiz Bowl Try-outs
5 p.m. -- Hospitality and auction check-in at Slick’s Ivy Stone Restaurant
5:30 p.m. -- 83rd annual awards banquet and Junior craft auction at Slick’s Ivy Stone Restaurant.

• Saturday, April 26th
8 a.m. -- Pa. Junior Guernsey Breeders’ awards breakfast
11 a.m. -- Sale luncheon at Bedford Co. 4-H Building
Noon -- Blue Halter Calf Sale at Bedford Fairgrounds
Motel reservations can be made by contacting the Quality Inn, Bedford, (814) 623-5188. Room rates are: $59.99 plus tax for double occupancy. An additional $10 charge for each additional occupant. When making reservations, please specify that you are with the PA Guernsey Breeders’ Association.

President Eric Poole will preside over the annual business meeting on Friday afternoon. The achievements of the past year will be highlighted during the annual awards banquet that evening featuring productions awards and All-Pennsylvania awards. The craft auction following the banquet will support the Pennsylvania Junior Guernsey Breeders’ Association’s awards and programs. The banquet and craft auction will be held at Slick’s Ivy Stone Restaurant, just a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The weekend will conclude with the Blue Halter Calf Sale at the Bedford County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 26 at noon.

The weekend will also include many events for the Guernsey youths. Friday afternoon, the Junior members will be holding their annual meeting and elections of officers. Applications are also being accepted for the youth contests including Outstanding Boy & Girl awards, Quiz Bowl, Public Speaking, Guernsey Queen, and the Display Board Contest. Applications are due by April 10th. The contests will take place Friday afternoon during the annual meeting. For additional information, please visit the PGBA website www.paguernsey.com.
