Dairy Summit scholarships awarded to 39

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Thirty-nine future dairy leaders learned about cutting-edge dairy technology and production practices while networking with nearly 400 dairy producers and industry representatives at the 2012 Pennsylvania Dairy Summit held Feb. 8-9 at the Lancaster Host Resort. This experience was made possible through scholarship support from the Center for Dairy Excellence and Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association.

“Building a strong future for Pennsylvania’s dairy industry begins by fostering the interest of our young people,” said John Frey, executive director of the Center. “By attending the Dairy Summit, these future dairy leaders can network with other dairy producers and industry professionals to help them hone their interests and skills.”

All recipients received Workforce Investment Board funds to attend Dairy Summit at a discounted rate. Program applicants must operate a dairy farm, be employed on a dairy farm or be enrolled in an agricultural degree program at a college or trade school.
